I started drawing this way back when I first found out that Assey and I were expecting a baby. I was trying to get into the spirit of things so-to-speak. I was distracted and super busy making preparations and such so I didnt have much time to work on any art but I was working on this whenever I got a spare second. I planned on having it finished before the baby came, and I would have too, except that the baby was a month premature (impatient little booger). After the baby arrived I had even less time to devote to art but I was determined to get this done. I FINALLY got some time to work on this just this week and Im calling it finished now.
There are lots of things I dislike about the piece, especially her face, but Im satisfied enough with it. Its a special piece to me because of what it represents and what was going on in my life during the time it was worked on. For these reasons Im requesting that the piece not be critiqued. Its done and Im happy with it so theres really no need for it to be picked apart. Thanks.
wow!!! awesome work with anathomy and pose, looks perfect!!! so realistic

Ya know, this is my first time drawing spider webs (well semi-SUCCESSFULLY drawing them I should say). They look a bit more cartoony than I meant them too but I'm cool with it. How I did it, I don't really know... Maybe it's the sheer randomness of it? I used to just draw a single line for a web "strand", but since I was intending on coloring this I actually drew the complete outline of each web strand...it made it look thicker than a normal spider's web would but they have giant spiders in the Underdark so it'll work in this case, hehe.
(Now that I think about it, since I colored over the lineart you can't really see what I'm talking about...d'oh!)

I saw your picture and I think you color Drow just fine...I admit they are really difficult to color though. Yours are nice and dark though and the detail is still present in the picture, that is the most important and most difficult part to me, coloring the dark skin without losing too much detail or making them look too shiney.
Thanks for the wonderful comments!

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example.
