Artist's Comments

A commission from *CrypticStar for her husband, Kevin. This is his character, Aaron Rendrick, he’s a half Celestial and the eagle up there is his familiar. (Please note that it is a golden colored eagle, and not a Golden Eagle). The sword is called Truelight and has some sort of magical properties within it. If you want more information on the character you’ll have to ask *CrypticStar or her husband. :)

Wow, this was a tough commission! Everyone knows how much I hate drawing wings, so that alone made this difficult. Add in the fact that I have limited experience drawing armor and have never drawn an eagle before and you’ve got one massive headache for DD! Resizing seems to have killed the pic too…even the large version is fuzzy. *sigh*

I had to draw the wings on one sheet of paper, Aaron on another sheet, and the eagle on a third sheet. I then inked them, scanned them, and colored them in photoshop. After the coloring was complete, I snagged a stock photo for the background, pieced all the components together and breathed a huge sigh of relief. :phew:

I’m sorry *CrypticStar, but I am soooo glad to be done with this thing, hehe. :XD:

Wow DD, his armor looks fantastic! I love the way the fabric of his pants looks against the metal armor. I'm really impressed with it. The pose is nice as well, like he's just swooped down and is ready for a fight. ^^ I love how you made his wings envelope him--gonna +fav it! :clap:

:hug: This is a incredible piece! Excellent choice for the background. I love the armor and as always love the glow effect! X D His face is so well detailed and the eye color is right on the button. I have a thing for eyes :D Thank you so much for taking on such a difficult piece for me. I feel loved :heart: Kevin thinks it is very impressive as well. Add three things you hate to do and add in one massive headache and you get ... one bad A pic! This is a very gorgeous piece. The wings unfurl nicely, the armor looks fabulous between the metal plates and what looks to be chainmail underneath. I wouldnt be surprised if he was a paladin and his sword was a Holy Avenger by the looks of it, since he just has this regal majestic feel about him. You did a great job on the feathery companion as well so no fret there. You altered the background picture quite nicely though I have to also give props that the original is beautiful and breathtaking as well. Also very curious about the symbols on the shoulder pads of his armor. Something of your own or is it something to do with the character himself?

Yeah, it's supposed to be chainmail. >_>` I have no real technique for doing chainmail...it looks different every time I do it and I haven't come up with a method I am 100% happy with yet.

As for his class (or whatever ya call it)... *reads over description* He's a chaotic good Paladin...and his sword is described as having a "holy glow" but I don't see any mention of him being a Holy Avenger. *scratches head* I dunno...it's D&D talk so it could just be going over my head. ^^;

No problem. It's a really good picture and I know it was tough but you still should be proud with yourself. Chaotic Good paladin sounds a bit intriguing so hurray for the player ^_^. And the chain mail looks fine so dont worry :P
